Jingle Bell Ride & Food Drive

December 11 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

Come One, Come All to the Annual Jingle Bell Horse Parade and Food Drive!
Sunday, December 11th 2022 (11AM – 1PM)
Three Newtown-based organizations, the Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG), the Newtown Bridle Lands Association (NBLA), and Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS) CHORE Services, are once again collaborating this holiday season to bring to Newtown their annual “Jingle Bell Ride and Annual Food Drive”.
Held on the grounds of the Newtown Fairfield Hills Campus on Sunday, December 11th, guests will have an opportunity to view riders and horses, decorated in holiday bells and festive attire, as they proceed along a parade route that will begin at the 2GHG facility on Wildlife Lane at 11:30 a.m., and march across Wasserman Way to the Farmers Market field, on Keating Avenue. This year’s event will include music and carols, an opportunity to meet and greet some wonderful horses, an added musical ride and mounted riding demonstration performed by troopers and horses of the 2GHG, as well as the Jingle Bell parade around the grounds of the Fairfield Hills campus.
Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to donate to a food collection event being organized by Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS) CHORE Services. All food donations will benefit the town’s FAITH Food Pantry.
Here is a list of items they are requesting: http://www.newtownfoodpantry.org/donations.html
Cash donations are also being accepted by CHORE Services, whose volunteers provide safety repairs to the homes of applicable Newtown seniors. Please find more information on Friends of Newtown Seniors (FONS) CHORE Services here: http://friendsofnewtownseniors.org/ways-to…/chore-service/
The Second Company Governor’s Horse Guard (2GHG) is currently seeking recruits for their upcoming 2023 Recruit Class. Anyone interested is invited to contact 1SGT Farina at 203-746-6080 for more details.
The Newtown Bridle Lanes Association (NBLA) works to preserve trails and open space in Newtown and offers trail riding events for horse owners, educational programs, and other fun activities. Visit their website at https://nblact.com/ for more information and to join.
