Thinking About Preschool or Childcare? Here Are Some Questions Parents Often Ask About ACES International Preschool & Childcare Center - Newtown Moms

Starting childcare or preschool is a big milestone, and it’s completely normal to have questions. Whether you’re returning to work, looking for more social opportunities for your child, or beginning the preschool search, ACES International Preschool & Childcare Center is here to help.

We asked some of the most common questions parents have, and here’s what they want you to know.

What ages do you serve, and what programs are available for each age group?

ACES International Preschool and Childcare Center serves children from birth through age 5. Our revolutionary early childhood program combines nurturing care with innovative educational practices designed to prepare children for success in elementary school and in life.

Children are grouped by developmental age bands to ensure individualized support and age-appropriate learning experiences:

  • Infants (Birth–18 Months): Loving, responsive care that focuses on attachment, sensory exploration, language development, and early milestones.
  • Toddlers (18 Months–3 Years): Active, hands-on learning experiences that encourage independence, social-emotional growth, language development, and exploration.
  • Preschool (3–5 Years): A rich school-readiness program that builds foundational academic skills through play, inquiry, creativity, and collaboration.

What makes our program unique is our commitment to thematic, inquiry-based, and play-based learning. Our educators create purposeful experiences that integrate literacy, science, nature exploration, social skills, problem-solving, creativity, and language development.

Children are immersed in a multicultural environment and receive daily exposure to Spanish language learning, giving them the lifelong gift of bilingualism while fostering global awareness and appreciation for diverse cultures.

What does a typical day look like for a preschooler vs. a toddler?

Toddlers enjoy a nurturing balance of exploration, sensory activities, music and movement, outdoor play, language development, social interaction, meals, rest time, and guided learning experiences designed to foster independence and curiosity.

Preschoolers participate in a more structured daily schedule that includes morning meetings, inquiry-based projects, literacy and math experiences, Spanish language learning, creative arts, outdoor exploration, social-emotional learning, and collaborative play. Every activity is designed to build school readiness while preserving the joy of childhood.

What are your staff-to-child ratios?

Our experienced educators are highly qualified, nurturing professionals who are dedicated to providing exceptional care and education.

Our ratios meet and often exceed state requirements:

  • Under age 2: 1 educator for every 4 children
  • Age 2: 1 educator for every 5 children
  • Ages 3–5: 1 educator for every 10 children

How do you keep parents updated on their child’s progress?

We use Procare, a secure family communication platform that provides daily updates, photos, classroom activities, meals, naps, and important announcements. Families stay connected to their child’s day in real time.

In addition, educators regularly share developmental progress and milestones through conferences, portfolios, and ongoing communication.

What does parent-teacher communication look like day to day?

Strong family partnerships are at the heart of what we do. Parents can communicate directly with teachers through Procare messaging, daily conversations during drop-off and pick-up, phone calls, emails, and scheduled conferences. We believe open communication helps create the best possible experience for every child.

Are there opportunities for parents to get involved or visit?

Absolutely! We welcome family involvement and believe that strong school-family partnerships enrich children’s learning experiences. Families are invited to participate as Room Parents and in classroom celebrations, family events, field trips, cultural activities, volunteer opportunities, and special school-wide gatherings throughout the year.

What are your hours of operation?

Our center is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., providing convenient care for working families.
