Connecticut’s annual tax free week starts today Sunday 8/18 and runs until Saturday 8/24. The timing is perfect with helping parents save some money during the busy back-to-school shopping period. Here’s what you need to know:
- Sales tax is lifted on all clothing and footwear that costs less than $100. This is on a per item basis.
- Items such as jewelry, handbags, wallets, watches and similar items are excluded.
- If there is a sale going on, as long as the item is under $100 once the discount is applied, you will not have to pay tax on it.
Here are a few local spots offering special events during this time:
Strength & Grace Boutique Sandy Hook, CT: Back to School Bash
Basil Rose Boutique, Newtown, CT: Open this week with everything 50% off due to moving sale. Check Instagram or Facebook for latest updates & store hours.
Traveling Chic Boutique, Brookfield: Tons of sales going on in-store.
Danbury Fair Mall, Danbury, CT: Click here for an ongoing list of sales happening by store.
If you know of a great deal going on somewhere, please share it by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org and I will update this post.
