Connecticut’s annual tax free week starts today Sunday 8/18 and runs until Saturday 8/24. The timing is perfect with helping parents save some money during the busy back-to-school shopping period. Here’s what you need to know:
- Sales tax is lifted on all clothing and footwear that costs less than $100. This is on a per item basis.
- Items such as jewelry, handbags, wallets, watches and similar items are excluded.
- If there is a sale going on, as long as the item is under $100 once the discount is applied, you will not have to pay tax on it.
