Everyday Celebrations from Scratch! | Newtown Moms

The holidays are just a few short weeks away, and that means holiday parties are about to be in full swing. Whether you’re hosting family for casual dinners or throwing a formal fete for a crowd, a new book from Maria Provenzano, “Everyday Celebrations from Scratch”, has inspiration galore. Part craft book and part cookbook, it shares some of the amazing creations that Maria developed as a television personality and founder of From Scratch with Maria.  It’s also a beautiful hardcover book—a perfect hostess gift or present for anyone who loves to cook and craft!

We asked Maria to tell us a bit more about this book, her favorite time-saving cooking tips, and more.

How did you decide to write this type of hybrid cookbook?
I have been cooking, baking, and crafting my entire life. My mom is a creator, and when I was growing up, it was a hobby we did together. So, for me, creativity equals connection. My mission in life is to inspire people to be creative because if we all spent a little more time focusing on connecting through creativity, we would be much happier and have stronger connections with those around us. It’s all about being intentional with how we live our lives. There is good in every day, and those moments should be celebrated, even in a little way.

What are your favorite weeknight recipes for Fall?
It’s all about soup in the fall! I love that soup is healthy, it can be made ahead of time, and it’s a great way to use fall produce.

The holidays are so hectic. What are your best tips for eating well this time of year?
Take the time to make food ahead of time and stock up the freezer. The freezer is my best friend all year long, and especially during the holidays. Soup, marinara sauce, pesto, and meats, are just a few of the items I like to have in the freezer.

Anything else you’d like to share?
I’m so happy to be connecting here with moms just like me! In fact, I created this book for moms and parents just like us!  There are so many kid-friendly ideas in the book (for all ages), such as Making Messes Monday (an entire chapter devoted to getting messy and creative together), tips on creating unique traditions, and ideas for celebrating life’s little moments. Something as simple as a weekday breakfast, sports practice or a weeknight meal can become celebratory!
