Back in March, Farmers’ Markets received the same classification as grocery stores, deeming them essential. I was happy to hear that news and even happier to see many of our local markets are getting ready to open in the coming weeks.
There’s no question, the 100+ farmers’ markets in Connecticut will operate differently this year. All must follow social distancing guidelines, require vendors to wear PPE when dealing with the public, and require customers to wear masks.
Below is a list of dates for our area farmers’ markets, as well as information regarding changes to how each will operate. Details are changing regularly, so please check back for those markets opening later this Spring or in early summer. Link to each market are included as well.
New Milford Farmers’ Market – Opens Saturday May 9th from 9AM to 12PM on the New Milford Green. COVID-19 guidelines for this market are listed here. Consider ordering & paying ahead with pick-up only at the market.
Monroe Farmers’ Market – Opens Friday, June 19th from 3PM to 6PM. Further details are to come.
Newtown Farmers’ Market – Opens Tuesday June 23rd from 2PM to 4PM at Fairfield Hills with the market operating with various social distancing rules. Social distancing must be maintained at all times, pre-ordering on vendor websites is encouraged, and no lingering at the market child mask regulations are in effect. Customers must wear masks and high-risk individuals & seniors will be able to shop from their cars.
Bethel, Brookfield, Redding, & Ridgefield also generally hold Farmers’ Markets. Details are not yet available for these markets.
And if I’ve missed your favorite market, please email me at email@example.com so I can add the details to our list.
