Meet A Mom: Cristina DiMarte, PA-C at the Vein Institute | Newtown Moms

This week’s Meet a Mom is Cristina DiMarte, PA-C at Vein Institute. This Monroe-based mom of two joined us to discuss parenting, local life, and Vein Institute’s commitment to improving the venous health of Connecticut adults.

Where are you originally from and how long have you been in the area?
I’m originally from Trumbull, went away to college and grad school and have been back in the area since 2014.

Children / Age(s)
Romeo, 21 months & Gianni, 4 months

One thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I am very competitive! I played soccer growing up and love a good competition of any kind.

One thing you wish someone would have told you about motherhood?
Sometimes you just cannot do it all, but as long as your kids are taken care of and well loved, they’ll be just fine! I have to remind myself of that!

What’s your favorite thing about raising a family in Fairfield County?
Being close to the water and all of the delicious restaurants nearby.

Do you have a favorite family friendly restaurant?  Date night?
Lucas Local for date night & Red Rooster for dinner as a family.

What is your go-to activity for your family?  For yourself? We love to walk the trails, spend time at Great Hollow Lake, and camp at Webb Mountain. For myself – exercise, mani/pedis, Trader Joe’s is a pretty exciting outing for me these days!

Best mom hack that makes your life easier?
Baking healthy treats for my oldest..especially muffins with fruits and vegetables snuck in. Always have some stocked in the freezer for a quick snack that I don’t feel guilty having him eat.

Name one thing you regret when learning the ropes of parenthood and what you learned from it?
Stressing out about every milestone with my first son. I learned to be a LITTLE more laid back, go with the flow, and the baby will develop at their own pace.

Tell us about your business, when & why you started, and the reason behind it?
Vein Institute opened in 2008 to treat patient’s vein disease with the care they deserve in a setting that feels like a home. We want all patients to come in and feel comfortable and safe in our offices.

I joined in 2018. I loved the culture at the Vein Institute, the care the patients were given, and that I was still able to utilize my clinical and managerial skills with a schedule that allows me time to care for and spend time with my family.

How did you both decide that this was the right career move for you while having a family to raise?
I was working in the emergency room prior to the Vein Institute, but I knew I wanted a better work life balance to raise a family. This is a perfect situation where I can care for patients, perform procedures, and use my management skills day to day.

How do women know if they need to see someone at the Vein Institute?
Women (and men) may notice bulging veins or spider veins on their legs which may prompt them to come in. In other cases, their legs may look fine but they may be experiencing symptoms such as heaviness, aching, leg cramps, swelling, restless leg. Typically, patients will get relief of symptoms with rest and leg elevation.

Where are you located and what is an appointment like?
We are located in Newtown, Fairfield, Shelton, and Avon. A consult is with me or one of our doctors and entails a physical examination, education about vein disease, the risks, causes, and pathology. Likely an Ultrasound will be scheduled in our office for further evaluation. Do not hesitate to give our office a call for a consultation!

The Vein Institute is located at 33 Church Hill Road. Call 203-426-5554 to schedule your appointment today!
