Denise Buzy-Pucheu is a Newtown Mom & a local business owner. This mom of 3 owns not one, but two businesses here in Newtown. I had the opportunity to meet Denise a few months ago when my younger sister was shopping for her wedding gown at The Persnickety Bride. Not only does Denise have an expertise in all things wedding, but her second company Persnickety Promotions creates custom promotional products for a variety of businesses, events, and non-profit partners.

Where are you from originally and how long have you lived in town?
I am originally from Mt. Vernon, NY in Westchester County and moved to Newtown in 2003.

Child(ren) and Age(s)?
Isabella and Ethan are both 16 years old (not twins but what we call “virtual twins – three months apart adopted from Kazakhstan as infants) and Aeryn 13 years old adopted from China at 2 1/2 years old.

One thing people would be surprised to know about you…
During my time in audio book publishing and entertainment I had the opportunity to work with Betty White, Jaclyn Smith, Sidney Sheldon, Jackie Collins amongst many other actors and writers.

Favorite things to do with your family?
Go to the movies, cook together, go on vacation,  go on hikes.

Favorite spot in Newtown?
Fairfield Hills for walking with the kids, hubby and dogs. Farmhouse Restaurant for a great meal.

What is your proudest mommy moment?
Gee a couple, my son when he played soccer, my daughter in the Thanksgiving Day Parade, my other daughter at the National Cheerleading competition in Florida.

How do you find balance and still check off all your daily to-do’s?
Balance what is balance…LOL  I learned early on that the to do list is an ever running list and like Rome isn’t built or finished or completed in a day.   My only balance is having a good staff, a patient family and Barre Boutique that I try to get to 3 times a week to work off my stress.

What is the one thing you’ve worked on that you are most proud of?
My business reputation and my passion for what I do.  I have been in business over 30 years.  I still have a small side consulting business representing specific publishing companies to the TJ Maxx group, of course Persnickety Promotions, and The Persnickety Bride.  In each business I have always worked hard to maintain a high standard of personal service, product expertise, problem trouble shooting, etc.

What is the best thing about being a business owner in Newtown?
The people in this town are very sweet and do pass on our information to others.  We have gotten many stationery, custom gift, and bridal referrals from those in town.  We also have worked with several businesses, schools and non profits in town with the promotional business and always appreciate the opportunity to help others brand and market themselves through our ad specialty company.

I know that when we met the first time, we talked about your & your husband’s journey in adopting your 3 kids. Can you share any advice for couples who may be considering adoption or waiting for a child?
Look at all your choices in, domestic, international and foster to adopt.  Understand that the process is not easy and is not for the faint of heart.  You must understand that the child that is meant to be yours will be yours when the time is right.  Always feel free to contact me on one of the websites listed below and I am happy to talk about adoption or give you some direction.

You can read more about Denise’s businesses here and here. And if you’re looking for a wedding dress (or know someone who’s recently engaged), The Persnickety Bride has 5 upcoming trunk shows: 2/1 – 2/4 Lea-Ann Belter, 2/15-2/17 Paloma Blanca, 2/22 – 2/24 Atelier Pronovias, 3/8 – 3/10 Justin Alexander, and 3/15 – 3/17 Lillian West.
