Newtown Holiday Lights – Saturday 12/13
This event happening for the first time on December 13, will include a drive through a Winter Wonderland at Fairfield Hills from the comfort of your car. A socially distant visit with Santa, a Laser Light Holiday Show, and performances by “Newtown’s Rockettes” from Lathrop School of Dance, Ashurst Academy of Irish Dance, and Newtown Centre of Classical Ballet and Voice. A drive thru mailbox for Letters to Santa will also be part of the event. Register here.

 

Newtown Youth & Family Services Holiday Festival
One of Newtown’s longest standing annual Holiday traditions has gone virtual for 2020. Hosted by Newtown Youth & Family Services, the event line-up for 2020 has something for everyone. Register for a full line up of activities here.

 

Newtown Tree Lighting at Ram’s Pasture – Friday 12/4
Hosted by Newtown Parks & Recreation, this event will be held as a silent stroll due to COVID. Residents are invited to walk along Ram’s Pasture on Friday 12/4 from 5PM to 10PM to admire the tree. Luminaria will still line Ram’s Pasture and the immediate neighborhood. You can honor or memorialized a loved one by donating $10. Please call Parks & Rec for further information.

 

Village of Sandy Hook Tree Lighting (Virtual Event on Sunday 12/6)
The Sandy Hook tree lighting (sponsored by Sandy Hook Organization for Prosperity) will be holding their annual event over Facebook Live. Lampposts in Sandy Hook Village are available for adoption – $50 for a small lamppost or $100 for one of the four larger posts.

 

Newtown Holidays Lights Map
Each year a group of Newtown residents decorate their home and create a town wide map, inviting the community to take a drive through Newtown and view these amazing Holiday displays. Join the Facebook group here, receive the 2020 map, and maybe register your house.

 

Brookfield Tree Lighting – Saturday 12/5
Enjoy the magic of the annual tree lighting from your car. Treat bags with snacks, activities and a letter for your child to write to Santa will be brought to each car once parked. Santa is sure to stop by once the tree is lit. Each car/family will have the opportunity to take a socially distant picture with Santa and to drop off a letter for him. Please come prepared with outdoor slippers/shoes and have masks handy to put on, as you will need to briefly exit your car for a picture with Santa. This event is for Brookfield Residents only.

 

Walking in a Winter Wonderland at the Beardsley Zoo (Bridgeport)
Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo will transform into a Winter Wonderland from November 28, 2020 through January 6, 2021, offering guests yet another opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature in a safe, outdoor setting. The Winter Wonderland Walk includes ten festive vignettes, from Fairy House Lane and a very special train display, Imagination Station, to custom artist and children-designed snowmen, a Hanukkah Plaza, and Kris Kringle Corner.

The Winter Wonderland Walk will be open seven days a week from 9-4, beginning the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Admission is $15 for adults, and $10 for children 3-11 and seniors over 62. Children under three are free.

 

Worldwide Light Celebration at Stepping Stones Children’s Museum (Norwalk)
Stepping Stones Museum for Children wants to bring joy to the community this holiday season with a FREE presentation of this year’s Worldwide Lights Celebration Car Parade. Treat your family to a spectacular holiday light display from the safe comfort of your car!

Registered guests will enjoy a Luminescent Light Forest with nontraditional trees, a beautiful Evergreen display, plus hidden light treasures, sparkling presents and happy Santa sightings. A special looping light show, prepared by museum educators, will air on the museum’s indoor Light Gallery. All visitors will receive a Worldwide Light Celebration activity sheet and a special Stepping Stones at Twenty puzzle. Families can also purchase Healthyville Cafe food snack bags for $5.
