Spring Sports Mom Style | Newtown Moms

Sports moms style is all about blending comfort and fashion for your hours and days spent on the sideline this spring.  That’s the advice from fellow sports mom and TLMN fashion contributor Kristin Kennedy, curator of Closetful of Clothes.  “You never know when you have to jump in to help out the coach or chase another kid around,” says Kristin, but she urges moms to do so in style. We asked Kristin to curate to her list of cozy (and chic) pieces to help moms feel put together on game day.

ALO YOGA  High Waist Airlift Leggings, $128

I like to be comfortable and in pants I don’t mind getting dirty if I end up sitting in the grass. I also like pants I can move in in case I need to jump in to help coach or chase my toddler while his siblings play.

DUDLEY STEPHENS Cobble Hill Turtleneck, $158

Dudley Stephens fleece pullovers are perfect for watching your kids play sports. They’re a warm layer, wash easily, and make leggings and sneakers look a bit more elevated. This fleece is my go-to on chilly spring mornings and for all my son’s hockey games.

ANINE BING Ramona Sweatshirt, $200

When it gets a bit warmer and you no longer need the layers, I love to throw a cool sweatshirt over running shorts, jeans or leggings for my kids’ sports games. It upgrades your look and makes it feel a little more put together than an old college sweatshirt. Still, it’s comfy and easy to wash and wear.

NEW BALANCE 574 Unisex Sneakers, $90

I always go with sneakers — they’re easy to walk across the field in, you won’t cry if they get dirty. Plus, bleachers can get slick, so I like comfy stable footwear. These are comfy but look cool with leggings and jeans alike.

STUTTERHEIM Mosebacke Raincoat, $325

I always bring a rain jacket because spring weather is just so weird. This will work for those rainy practices but it’s also a great layer to have on when it’s chilly and/or windy.

MONOGRAM MARY Vinyl Lulu Tote, $148

Every sports mom needs this tote. It won’t get ruined if apple sauce, juice boxes, or water bottles spill all over it. It holds all their sports equipment. It won’t get ruined in the rain. And you can monogram it! Plus, it’s made by another sports mom who knows!

BONUS: A TLMN Team Favorite!

THE LOCAL MOMS NETWORK Folding Chair, $50

One of the most underestimated yet totally necessary item for any sports mom is a comfortable chair. Sitting on the ground where it’s wet, buggy, and generally uncomfortable can make a long game feel downright torturous.  That’s why our team keeps The Local Moms Network Folding Chair in the trunk of our cars so we’re never stuck without it. Bonus: Cup holder!
