The Music Coop: Newtown’s Newest Music Studio | Newtown Moms

Has your child has recently expressed an interest in piano or voice lessons? Or maybe he or she wants to focus on taking their performance to the next level? If this sounds familiar, check out The Music Coop. This studio, owned by local mom Samantha Murtha, focuses on evolving the whole student. Your child will learn not only traditional techniques and musical pedagogy, but also modern music trends. Sam’s philosophy is all about making music & performance fun, while still aligning it with the discipline needed for a child to continue to develop musically.

From a very young age, Samantha has been passionate about music and voice. Before opening The Music Coop, Sam performed with various celebrities such as James Earl Jones, Richard Gere, & Vanessa Williams. She continues to perform locally in various bands throughout the tri-state area covering Top 40, Pop, & Rock. She received her B.A. and Masters’ in Music Education from Western Connecticut State University and spent years in the K-12 classroom teaching music. Her vocal background includes Opera, Musical Theater, Pop, Country, and Rock.

The Music Coop specializes in voice lessons with additional emphasis on performance technique, audience preparation, and studio recording practices. Piano lessons are also available, as well as musical theater and acting coaching.
