The Weekend Round-Up (11/16) is Here! | Newtown Moms

Is it me or does it feel like this weekend is a bit of a mix of Thanksgiving & the Holidays? It seems like we’re completely at that point in November where Thanksgiving is just around the corner and yet, everyone is focusing on the holidays. With that being said, there’s tons to do in our area this weekend.

There’s several things going on this weekend that will get you right into the Holiday Spirit:

The Festival of Trees kicks off on Friday 11/16 and lasts until Sunday 11/18 at the Danbury Sports Dome. There are tons of activities going on all weekend and all proceeds support Ann’s Place. Ann’s Place provides support & resources to people in our area living with cancer and their loved ones.

Hollandia Nursery Christmas Spectacular starts on Friday and runs through Sunday. There will be a 20% discount on EVERYTHING in store, all weekend. Oh and live jazz music, Santa, and light refreshments in the afternoon. Store hours are 9AM – 6PM.

Newtown Parks and Rec is sponsoring a Turkey Toss at Newtown Middle School on Friday at 6PM. All proceeds benefit the Camp Scholarship Fund.

NERF Battle Night is going on at The Children’s Movement center in New Milford. Kids ages 6 -12 can enjoy an organized NERF game on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30PM. Details are found here.

EverWonder Museum is hosting their annual Science of Wine fundraiser over at Nouevau Monde in Sandy Hook on Friday night from 7PM – 10PM. Buy tickets here.

The first Turkey themed 5K in our area is kicking off on Sunday morning in New Fairfield. The 34th Annual Run for the Turkeys 5K Road Race/Health Walk will have a Kid’s fun run around the track for children 12 years and under. Register online.

Also on Sunday, you can head to PT Barnum Square and help decorate lamp posts in downtown Bethel. Details are here.

If you feel like taking a drive a bit out of our area, Stamford is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Parade. As someone who used to live in Stamford, this event is amazing! The parade kicks off on Sunday at 12PM. There is also a Balloon Inflation party from 3PM – 6PM on Saturday – a perfect event for young kids.
