This Weekend in Newtown… | Newtown Moms

What are your plans this weekend? In my house, we have a bit of garden & leaf clean up to do and some painting. Super exciting, right? When we’re not busy with these projects, we’re planning to check out some of the following events.

On Friday 11/9, several of our local libraries offer a variety of programs for kids under age five. Be sure to check out our calendar for all the details.

The holiday shopping season is about to kick into full gear. Visit The Toy Room in Bethel on Saturday for Neighborhood Toy Day. This event will include specials, demos, raffles & giveaways. Shop between 10am – noon, receive 20% off, noon -2pm receive 15% off, 2pm-5pm receive 10% off.

BD Provisions is celebrating their grand opening on Saturday. Stop by and check out their new store 125 South Main Street in Newtown. This store offers carefully-curated bulk foods sold by the pound in eco-friendly containers. My favorite part about this new store is the fresh coffee beans roasted right on-site!

Santa arrives at the Danbury Fair Mall on Saturday! Welcome Santa with a parade at 10AM. You can see all the details, as well as the other special holiday events here.

The Fall Fair is happening at Christ the King Church in Newtown. Free admission from 9AM – 3PM with 45 vendors selling a variety of items. Details are here.

On Sunday, EverWonder Museum invites all Veterans and their family members to visit the museum for free. Stop in and make a craft to celebrate Veterans.

“Sweat for a Vet” is taking place on Sunday at the Newtown Youth Academy. Stop by at 9AM for a bootcamp style workout, followed by yoga at 10:15AM. If you still have the energy, the session finishes up with a “Last Man Standing” run around Fairfield Hills at 11AM. Donations are welcomed to support Veterans membership.

Merryhill Child Care Center and Edmond Town Hall, two local nonprofit organizations, present a fun, unique, family-friendly Silent Films fundraiser event on Sunday, November 11th. Doors open at 3:00 pm, and the show starts at 4:00 pm. Tickets will be $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children under 12 and can be purchased in advance or at the door on the day of the event.
