Weekend Round-Up 1/11 – 1/13 | Newtown Moms

I happen to be heading out of town solo for the weekend, so what’s happening in our area over the next three days is key to keeping my daughter & husband busy while they enjoy some quality daddy/daughter time! Since it’s going to be such a cold weekend, I’ll be including links to indoor play spaces so that schedules are just a click away.

On Friday, EverWonder Museum is open until 7PM. There is also a presentation on Digital Media happening at 6:30. Matthew Norwood, Director of Class of 2032, and Associate Director of UConn Digital Media and Design will present how young children interact with online information such as YouTube and Google. Cost is $5/person up to four people or $20/family. Visit the museum’s website for more information.

D-Bat in Trumbull is offering a a Parent’s Night out on Friday night from 6PM – 9PM. Drop the kids off at D-Bat for an evening of whiffle ball, home run derby, dodgeball, and unlimited swings on pitching machines. Cost is $20 for members.

Get your ice-skating on at the Danbury Arena with the DJ skate from 8:30 – 10:30PM. A perfect way to end the week with older children.

On Saturday, the Winter Farmers Market at Benedict’s Home and Garden opens in Monroe. Local farmers and artisans will display their locally grown or prepared products to help build a stronger community by encouraging shopping local.

If you feel like a bit of a trek outside of the area, head up to the Connecticut Science Center up in Hartford for their Hogwarts Celebration of Science and Sorcery. Check out our calendar for all of the event details.

On Sunday, head over to Kidz Klub in the Danbury Mall for the chance to meet Peppa the Pig. Event runs from 3PM to 4PM and regular admission applies.

It’s the season for open houses for preschools and private schools. There are two going on in our area this weekend:

Wesley Learning Center is gearing up for the 2019- 2020 School year. If you’re considering preschool for your child next year, stop by for their Open House on Saturday 1/12 from 9AM to 11AM. Wesley offers a great learning experience for kids ages 2 -5 and is Nationally Accredited by NAEYC. If you sign up on January 12 and are new, you will receive a $100 credit on your first months tuition.

Fraser Wood Montessori invites prospective parents to an open house on Sunday 1/14 at 9:30AM and then again on Sunday 1/24. They are enrolling for September 2019 and offer programs for children aged 15 months to 8th grade. RSVP to [email protected].
