Selecting a Preschool Program or deciding on a Private School for your child is no easy task. Our annual Preschool & Private School Guide seeks to make this process a bit easier by providing you with a list of local programs. And as always, you can find open house dates on our calendar.
The Wooster Difference is rooted in our history. Founded in 1926, we have always been a place where inclusivity, diversity, and personal relationships are paramount. Today, and in the face of technology-mediated and fast-paced world, we stay focused on what really matters: fostering the personal relationships that are the bedrock of students’ self-discovery and confidence. We do this in a school culture that redefines “rigor” to be reflective of a healthy reality: an authentic balance between our achievement culture and the unique social, emotional, and intellectual needs of every one of our students.
Wooster’s Middle School is an inclusive 5th – 8th grade experience built around personal relationships. Every child is recognized for who he is, and every child finds success and builds foundational skills and confidence for the rest of their lives.
Wooster’s Upper School builds on the foundation of Middle School, opening students to a bigger world where they increasingly assume ownership and responsibility for their own learning. By design, our program is built around tapping into students’ and teachers’ natural interests and curiosities, creating authentic motivation for learning.
Wooster’s Bridge Program is a fully mainstream support program for neurodivergent students in grades 6-12. This “community within a community” is flexible and serves students with language-based, executive function, and attention-related learning differences. With caring teachers who double as mentors, every student discovers how he learns best, paving the way for success in Middle and High School, and beyond.
Discover how Wooster is thinking about school differently and setting its graduates up for success in the 21st century world.
Wooster School is located at 91 Miry Brook Road, Danbury, CT 01680. Please visit us online at woosterschool.org or call (203)830-3916 for more information.

Easton Country Day is a small, coed PreK – 12 private school which is open full time this fall! We are operating under all government standards for safety. ECDS uses its small size and a unique, individual educational approach to ensure each child not only achieves academic excellence in a safe and loving environment, but also learns those skills necessary to be a caring and responsible citizen. We build a relationship with each child. We promote excellence in individual academic achievement in the context of our motto “Responsibility, Integrity, Community – Praxis.” This, and our innovative scheduling methods, gives us the flexibility to place children in classes that fit their academic and social needs and to respond rapidly to change and growth in each child. ECDS offers rigorous academics shaped to the individual child in a familial environment that encourages accomplishment, responsibility and acceptance of diversity. We offer programs for the highly gifted, and we emphasize the fine arts. We teach children how to learn, preparing them for life beyond school.
With a profound reverence for childhood as our guiding principle, the Housatonic Valley Waldorf School nurtures your child’s sense of curiosity, creativity, empathy, and awe through a holistic curriculum that integrates the senses throughout the entire learning and growing process. One of our central tenets has always been respect for each child and for childhood. We truly believe our school offers what children most need at this time – a haven where they can simply be children. We will get to know your child by spending time with them and providing them with deep and engaging learning opportunities.

Mom, Kindergarten Teacher, and Harvard grad Christine Guan leads The Learning Experience-Newtown — where her sons Kai and Kaden attend. The program serves children 3 months to 6 years, and even has a before/afterschool program for older siblings. Parents choose The Learning Experience. because:
-
Safety. 100% of staff have CPR/First Aid Certification and undergone FBI & DCF background checks. The school is proud to be a home for many police officer, firefighter, nurse, and military families.
-
Leadership. Center Directors Bunny Kolf and Jessica Fiorini collectively boast 20+ years of Center Director experience. The two Director model better serves children and families.
-
High-quality, experienced staff. The school hires teachers with previous experience in early childhood education.
-
Academics. The school’s proprietary literacy, phonics, and enrichment program helps children get Kindergarten-ready. Quarterly assessments are the focus of Parent Teacher conferences.
-
Flexibility. We know flexibility is key for families. While the school is open 6:30 AM – 6:30 PM, parents also can select an 8AM – 12:30PM, 8AM – 3PM, or 8AM-6PM schedule. There is also a 3-day program and a family can add early care (6:30AM-8AM).
