Giving Back this Holiday Season: Local Organizations Seeking Donations | Newtown Moms

As we head into the month dedicated to Gratitude, many of us are thinking about our Holiday lists, how this year may look a little different, and how we can help others in our community. 2020 has rocked so many of us in a variety of ways. And if as a result of everything that has gone on this year, you are able to give back this year, here are a few ways to participate in support of our local community.

Adopt a Family

The Newtown Fund Adopt a Family Program: Each year approximately 70 – 100 families need assistance in Newtown during the Holidays. The Newtown Fund runs an annual program in which “adoptees” receive a list of the ages and gender of each family member, along with his or her needs. You can adopt a family as an individual, a family, a group of friends, or an organization. Sign up here.

Women’s Center of Greater Danbury: The Holidays, while joyous celebrations for many, can be challenging for domestic violence survivors. Each year, WCGD coordinates programs for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Chanukah, so they can enjoy each holiday with their children.
