Out of Books? Consider One of These! | Newtown Moms

So why a book list from me? And why was I asking for book suggestions? Well, I’ve been an avid reader for pretty much my whole life and I have to read before bed each night. It’s definitely how I disconnect from my day and send the signal to my body that it’s time to sleep.

I’m going to start with some of the books I’ve read over the past year, and finish with some of the recommendations you all sent me. So here goes….

Kate Quinn – Two of the best books I read within the last year have been The Alice Network & The Huntress. Both books weave different storylines involving the main characters in such an interesting and compelling way.

Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen – This newish writing team made up of author (Pekkanen) and veteran editor (Hendricks) has written three suspense filled novels within the past three years. The Wife Between Us, An Anonymous Girl, and You Are Not Alone are all good reads.

Rachel DeLoache Williams – I read My Friend Anna right after Abby was born back in the fall. It was the perfect book for the sleepy newborn phase as it was fast moving, scandalous and kept my attention. Williams is a former photo editor at Vanity Fair who befriends Anna Delvey, an alleged German heiress. I don’t normally read non-fiction, but Williams’ story of deception and her role in bringing down a known con-artist is too good to skip.

Chanel Cleeton – I read Next Year in Havana a few months ago and really enjoyed it. It’s the story of a women who left Cuba during Fidel’s rise to power. Her granddaughter, Marisol returns years later after her death to scatter her ashes and learns more about her grandmother’s past. The book actually caught my eye in Target because it’s one of “Reese’s Book Club Picks”. Fast forward to a few months later, and The Local Moms Network had an opportunity to interview Cleeton. Read that story here
