One of the signs of Spring seems to be all these great events that I’ve recently added to our calendar. And this weekend, although still winter does not disappoint. Here are some of the fun activities and events happening this weekend in our community.
Friday
Story hours at the Danbury, Bethel, Brookfield, and New Milford libraries for little ones. Check our calendar for details and times.
Ranger Nate from the Beardsley Zoo will be at EverWonder Children’s Museum from 10AM – 2PM. Stop by to learn some interesting facts about animals and furs.
Newtown Medispa is holding their 6th Annual Anniversary party at Tashua Knolls in Trumbull. I seriously hope you got tickets because the event is sold out! If you’re going, you’ll be in for a lot of awesome information on their services, as well as a TON of giveaways.
Congregation Adath Israel, in Newtown is holding their monthly Shabbat Before Bedtime. Join them for a joyous, raucous, percussion and dance filled 45 minutes to welcome the Sabbath. All traditional, interfaith, and modern families are invited to attend.
An Evening of Comedy to benefit the Newtown Education Foundation was rescheduled to Friday. Details and how to purchase tickets for this fun event at Edmond Town Hall are here.
Saturday
Happy birthday Dr. Seuss! If you’re looking for a way to celebrate this timeless children’s author, head to Barnes and Noble for a special story time, games, and activities starting at 11AM.
St. Patrick’s Day Festivities also begin on Saturday. If you’re feeling like a bit of a drive, head to the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Stamford. Event starts downtown at 12PM. Want a shorter trip? Head to the Southbury Library where The Jolly Beggars will perform Celtic music from 12PM to 2PM. Or watch Ashurst Academy of Irish Dance perform at the Danbury Library. Details on the calendar.
Sunday
The Palace Theater in Danbury will be holding a Double Play Matinee featuring a showing of “The Rookie” and “Field of Dreams”. This fun event is being put on by the Danbury Westerners and will also feature raffles, vendors, a baseball photo booth, and free showings of both movies.
All Weekend
If you happen to have a Marvel Comics fan in your home, you don’t want to miss Marvel Universe Live: Age of Heroes this weekend at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. Reverie Brewing Company, Newtown’s first Brewery will be celebrating their grand opening all weekend. Stop by on Saturday from 12PM to 10PM or Sunday from 11AM – 5PM. The brewery’s located right on Church Hill Road near exit 10.
